On Thursday 18 July, Barcelonnette will host the finish of the 18th stage of the 111th Tour de France.
On Friday 19 July, the 19th stage of the biggest cycle race of the year will pass through the Ubaye Valley via the Col de Vars and the Col de la Bonette.

6 years after its last visit to Ubaye, the Tour de France is making a comeback in the Barcelonnette Valley.
The Tour is returning to the Ubaye Valley in the best possible way: not one but two exciting stages await the heroes of the Grande Boucle.
It is with pride and enthusiasm that Ubaye will welcome the 111th edition of the Tour for two unforgettable days of celebration.
On 18 July, the 18th stage will start from Gap, the capital of the Hautes-Alpes, and finish at Place Aimé Gassier in Barcelonnette.
The following day, on the 19th stage from Embrun to Isola 2000, the riders will once again cross the sumptuous landscapes of Ubay and the formidable terrain of the Southern Alps. The peloton will have the chance to take on two of Ubaye's legendary passes: the Col de Vars and the Col de la Bonette!

The peloton returns to Ubaye on 19 July
The following day, for the 19th stage from Embrun to Isola 2000, the riders will once again cross the sumptuous Ubaye landscapes and the formidable terrain of the Southern Alps. The peloton will take on two legendary passes in Ubaye: the Col de Vars and the Col de la Bonette!

Ubaye and the Tour : a long history
The Tour de France and the Ubaye valley share a long history. As early as 1911, the racers set off up the laces of the Col d'Allos.
The Vallée de l'Ubaye has a long history of cycling and has seen some of the greatest champions in the history of cycling compete more than 50 times on its legendary roads and passes.
A few dates
1975: Pra Loup is the finish of the 15th stage, which started in Nice. This legendary stage saw Bernard Thévenet put an end to the reign of Eddy Merckx "the cannibal".
1975: Barcelonnette is the starting town for the 16th stage of the Tour, bound for Serre-Chevalier.
1980: Pra Loup is the finish of the 16th stage, from Trets
2008: Jausiers is the finish of the 16th stage, from Cuneo
2015 : Pra Loup is the finish of the 17th stage, from Digne-les-Bains
2018: The Tour de France passes through Ubaye for the last time on the 18th stage between Embrun and Valloire.
